White-Tailed Deer

The deer tick recieved its name from reports of ticks on a white-tail deer, Odocoileus virginianus. The deer do not carry Lyme disease. The white footed mouse transmits Lyme disease. The deer tick can get a blood meal from the deer but not Lyme disease.
